CIRCUS AND STREET ARTS I PARIS


Created in 2005, De rue et De cirque (2r2c) is an arts cooperative that presents contemporary circus and street arts in Paris and surrounding areas. 2r2c organises a diverse programme of activities and performances throughout the year creating connections between artists and audience.


Spring time : free events focussed on street arts and outdoor performance.

Village de Cirque (Circus Village) : contemporary circus festival in October staged in Big Tops in the park of la Pelouse de Reuilly.


TerritoireS en questionS(Testing Ground) : An arts lab (3 years project) bringing artists and communities together to explore new ground in the creation of site-specific and interdisciplinary performance work. 


An ongoing educational programme workingwith schools, universities and communities over the course of a year which combines shows, workshops.
2r2c supporting artists, in pushing boundaries and challenging preconceptions, by :

Supporting artists's creative process from conception to delivery.

Responding to the creativity of artists and using their expertise to realise ambitious ideas.

Creating safe and supportive spaces for artistic experiment, risk-taking and development

  • Collaboration and Cooperation; sharing knowledge and ressources.
  • Promoting and advocating for street arts and contemporary circus with local authorities

  • Engaging the public in new ways of participating.

2r2c is supported by the French Ministry of Culture, the city of Paris and by the DRAC Ile-de-France. 
2r2c is a member of Circostrada, the European platform for street arts and circus arts

 

ZOOM ON TERRITOIRES EN QUESTIONS

Since its creation in 2005, La Cooperative De Rue et De Cirque I 2r2c has explored territories by distilling/programing artistic work in public and site specific spaces, relying on experienced professional teams.

After many isolated projects in the 13th area, it became obvious to create an umbrella project that will link each action by the common threat of defined territory. This project called TerrritoireS en questionS brings together artists, members of the cooperative, in a shared approach that takes those areas as a framework, including developing innovative ways of intervention by involving residents, local stakeholders, universities and local professionals such as architects.

The project TerritoireS en questionS suggests to highlight and take over a specific area that will be given and seen as a playground for artistic experimentations in connection with local communities. A border city band between Paris and the cities of Gentilly, Ivry-sur- Seine and the Kremlin-Bicetre, a wasteland that it is difficult to grasp.

This is a 3 years project that will give time to think, to dream, to wander, even to understand the complexity of the stakes and the future of those territories in question.. TerritoireS en questionS is operated in the field by severals companies  : Ktha cie, 1 Watt, Cie Bouche à Bouche, Deuxième Groupe d’Intervention, Ici-même (Paris), Paris Label, KMK  et ETXEA.

Within this project the Cooperative De Rue et De Cirque is keen to explore new partnership across Europe.
